Everyone wonders how to make there own paint brushes. It is more simple then people think. First you must make a decision. Is it going to be an image? Or will it be something you drew? Or is it going to be made form a set of paint brushes which came from Adobe? The one thing you cannot do is make a paint brush from a brush someone else already made. I am going to show you how to make a simple stars brush. First we must open a new document. Here is what i have for settings:

Click ok. I am going to change the layer name to Background. Next i am going to add a new layer named Stars. The background is only allowing us to see the paint brush, otherwise it would blend in. I'm going to use the Paintbucket tool and color the layer named "background" white.

Next I will click and hold down on the Rectangle tool and select the Elipse.

Make sure the fill color is Black.

Next you Hold down the Shift key to get perfect circles and draw where you want the circles, make sure you are on the layer named "stars" and not the background layer. The circles will turn into stars soon enough. This is what I have so far:

I want them to glow, double click on the layer named Stars and add a glow effect, make sure its black glow otherwise it wont show up well at all.

You need to change the screen to normal and you can adjust the other settings as you wish.

We no longer need to have the background layer so delete that. Then go to image -> Trim make sure all the boxes are checked. Then go to edit -> Define Brush and name it.
The brush will not exist after you change brush sets. Therefore you need to save it in its own set. Go to the brush tool. then go to the top bar where you select the brush set.

You need to then go to preset manager, you will get a window to pop up. Click the paintbrushes you want in the set, old down Shift to select more then one at a time. Then hit save set, it will be saved as a .abr file which all brush files must be.

My finished product:

I used the paintbrush more then one time, and this was just a simple tutorial so the paint brush didn't turn out wonderful. I had to keep it easy. There were no layer effects either in this picture and it consisted of only 3 layers, Text, black background and the layer with paint brushes. As you get used to this you will be able to make even better paint brushes.
